Know who is coming through the door.

Laminate is access control for events and sites, built on ordinary iPads and iPhones. It recognizes people who have agreed, with the same kind of face matching used at airports and stadiums, and checks their wristbands with a tap.

Built for the job, not the building.

Most access control is installed into a building and stays there for years. Laminate is for security teams whose work moves: live production on tour or at a festival, executive protection, film and TV sets, and secure construction sites.

It suits anywhere access is temporary and the people change. It runs on iPads and iPhones, and is packed away when the job ends. Your people come from the spreadsheet you already keep, in Google Sheets, CSV or Excel (.xlsx).

Set up your zones, and when they change.

Lay out the areas you look after as zones, and give each one a posture: the rule for who gets in. Schedule postures ahead of time, so an area can tighten at a set hour and open up again later.

Before you change a posture, Laminate shows you who the change will affect.

The Zones page in the console. Each zone has a card showing its posture, such as Crew only or Locked down, the groups it admits, any exception for a group or a person, and the faces of the people it lets in.

Enroll each person, with their consent first.

Each person gets a link and completes their own enrollment on their phone, before day one. You decide what is required: signed agreements and waivers, an emergency contact, the details you need on file, a selfie, and an ID check with an identity-verification service if you want one.

Each person’s page shows what they have finished and what they still owe, so nothing is chased by hand at the gate. Face recognition is optional: before a face is learned, the person is asked for consent, in plain words.

  • If someone declines facial recognition, they use an NFC wristband instead.
  • They can withdraw their consent at any time: their face data is deleted from our servers straight away, and devices stop using it when they next connect.
  • Their photo is kept either way, so a person can check the system’s work. Consent decides whether their face is learned.

If you have been asked to enroll, the organization that invited you decides how your information is used, and is the right place to ask about it.

The consent screen on an iPad at the desk. It reads Face recognition for Alex Example, shows the default notice above a signature line, and offers I agree or Not now.

A calm, clear answer at the gate.

On an iPad at the entrance, a person who is allowed in sees green. Anyone who needs a second look sees orange, never a red screen, and the person on the gate takes it from there.

A face the iPad does not recognize is not a verdict. Where wristbands are in use, the screen asks the person to tap theirs instead.

Matching happens on the iPad or iPhone itself, so a check does not wait on the network, and keeps working offline.

Laminate supports your team on the gate; it does not stand in for them. It informs, and it helps the person at the gate decide who comes through. Laminate does not open or lock doors.

See the day as it happens.

The Feed shows the day as it happens. Zone cards show each area at a glance.

When plans change, switch a zone’s posture in a moment, having seen who it affects. And before the day starts, Review looks over your setup and points out what is worth fixing.

Everything Laminate does

The Feed in the console. At the top, a referral at the main gate for someone not on today’s list, with their photo on file and the choices Put on today’s list, Acknowledge, Give access and Open person. Below it, the people admitted at each door, with their faces.

Personal details, carefully kept.

  • Faces are matched on the iPad or iPhone itself, and a person enrolling is asked before their face is learned.
  • Each person’s most personal details are encrypted under a key of their own. Erasing them destroys it.
  • Each organization’s records are kept apart by the database itself.
  • Your data is held in a resilient data center.
